The Home:World series stars popular television presenter Howard Stableford, of the BBC's flagship science and technology program "Tomorrow's World." With his characteristic humor and warm intelligence, Howard introduces you to interesting and brave souls who've already made the move, finding out what the process was like for them, and getting their insights into what it takes to actually seek, find, buy, build/renovate, and live in the home of their dreams overseas.

We also talk in-depth with the experts, including government officials, real estate agents, bankers, developers, attorneys and others who can walk you through the process of investing in real estate in each country. Our goal is to help make your life or investment abroad a success!

How the Series Was Created

Home:World was conceived in late 2005 when Executive Producer, Sasha Owen, wanted to buy a home on the beach. After looking at real estate prices in the US, he Googled "Cheapest place to live on Earth" and came up with a list of interesting places he didn't know anything about. Sasha also didn't really know anything about buying property abroad, so instead of buying a place of his own, he created this series to help him (and you) learn how it all works in different countries around the world.

Early in 2006, the Home:World crew shot our pilot episodes in Nicaragua, the "Land of Lakes and Volcanoes," and in Panama, home to one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World, the Panama Canal. In 2007 we will be filming in Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, Belize, Argentina, Croatia, and other locations, looking for the best views, the best lifestyles, the best food, and the best deals in real estate.
